Today we spent a long time at various Chinese government offices in order to finalize the adoption on their end. Which means......drumroll please........ today Cherry Blossom is officially ours! We have her official adoption certificate and are so excited. We will now celebrate this day as Cherry Blossom Day!
She did really well today as we were jumping in and out of a van at various places. Sometimes our driver could not get into the parking lot and our guide would just say jump out and we would! Usually The Rock would jump out first grab Cherry Blossom from my lap and then I would jump out. Today The Rock had his hands full with paperwork in between the various buildings. Tom, our guide, tried to get Cherry Blossom to come to him and she refused and turned back towards me and held on for dear life. I'm sure it hurt his feelings but it proved to me that she is attaching herself to us which is AWESOME!
Another great accomplishment today is we finally found a stroller! We did not bring one along because we had been told that the hotel would have one to loan us or they would be easy to find. Note to self.....bring a stroller if you are staying in the Jianguo Hotel in Beijing because they did not have a stroller and we spent all day looking for one yesterday. We went to the Silk Market last night in search of one and The Rock carried Cherry Blossom in the Ergo Baby on his back. She loved it! I will put some pictures below. I had a few things on my list and at the top was a girl coat for her to wear. The plaid coat the orphanage gave her was nice but it made her look like a boy. ( I am putting a picture below of the outfit she came to us in.) I also needed to find some new squeaker shoes that fit. I had no idea how chaotic The Silk Market would be. Imagine a 7 story mall made up of various little stores where the people harass you as you walk by. "Lady, come look at these wallets", "Lady, you need a purse" etc. etc. etc. To top it off these salespeople lack personal space because they would grab my jacket sleeve to get my attention or would start messing with Cherry Blossom in the carrier. I wanted to find a jacket, shoes and stroller and get back to the hotel before I bought anything else. Her jacket is adorable and she loves wearing it! She is constantly messing with it in the hotel room. She also likes her new squeaker shoes!
We want to do a lot of shopping while we are here, but hope to do it in Guangzhou, the final city we fly to in order finish up the paperwork. We have severe luggage weight limits and we are trying to lose items (diapers, wipes, food) instead of adding weight :)
Tom, the amazing guide, spent last night calling special stores looking for a stroller and he found one! We went to the store today on our way back from the government offices and got their last stroller. It is a boy stroller with cars, planes and trucks on it, but we do not care at this point. Cherry Blossom may have loved the carrier but she was covered in sweat when we got back and The Rock's shirt was soaked! She is all about her stroller!
She just went down for a nap, but will be ready to play when she gets up. Bubbles, playdoh and balls seem to be her favorite. She is not really a fan of the dolls we brought her. She has a lot of dolls at home so I hope this changes! She also loves hair bows and that makes mommy happy since mommy made many hair bows during the nesting period. When she gets up from her nap she always finds one and brings it to me and says "Mama". She is a girly girl!
We are going to try the pool tonight and see how that goes. Tomorrow we are going to the Summer Palace, hence the reason we needed a stroller and a traditional family style lunch with Tom and our driver. We will see how much I eat, but The Rock is ecstatic. I'm more then happy eating noodles that I brought in the room with Cherry Blossom but he really wants to follow "When in China do what the Chinese do" :)
I love this time of day because I can catch up on Facebook. We greatly appreciate all of the prayers and support through your messages and encouragement. I hope you enjoy the pictures of from last night and today!
It is now 8:53 pm here and we have had problems with our Wi-fi all day! We just put her down for the night so I was able to come down to the lobby to publish this post. Cherry Blossom got to go into a pool for her first time tonight, she was scared at first but after awhile she found that it was funny to poor water on her daddy so she got used to it :)
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27
Hold on, to me as we go. As we roll down this unfamiliar road. And although this wave is stringing us along. Just know you’re not alone, cause I’m going to make this place your home. Settle down, it'll all be clear. Don't pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear. The trouble it might drag you down. If you get lost, you can always be found. Just know you’re not alone, cause I’m going to make this place your home.
