Hold on, to me as we go. As we roll down this unfamiliar road. And although this wave is stringing us along. Just know you’re not alone, cause I’m going to make this place your home. Settle down, it'll all be clear. Don't pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear. The trouble it might drag you down. If you get lost, you can always be found. Just know you’re not alone, cause I’m going to make this place your home.

Day 5: Our Little Princess

Our Little Princess has had a day of experiences today! We started the day off by having to literally wake her up around 6am so that we could get her fed and ready to Skype for her first time. She was such a great sleeper and even now she has been down for a nap for over an hour. She woke up smiling when she saw us and ready to play! She knows she has us wrapped around her little fingers because she hands us a toy and we are always ready to play. She loves playing with playdoh, but not the typical way that kids do. She loves to take it out of the container, hand it to us, we make it into a ball and she puts it back into the container. The game we played this morning was mommy rolls it into balls, mommy throws the balls into the foyer of the hotel room and Cherry Blossoms goes and picks them up and puts them back into the playdoh container. She then hands it back to me and says "Mama" and then gives me those big brown eyes that say "do it again".

She wants to help with everything! When I dress her she helps me put the clothes out, she hands me the bow for her hair and then wants a baby wipe to wipe her hands after I am done changing her diaper. She also picks up around the hotel room. She brings me my shoes or coat that I left laying around and waits for me to put them up in the closet. Her daddy is loving the fact that she makes mommy pick up after herself.

She got to Skype with her Grandma, Grandpa and Nana this morning. She was really more excited about seeing herself on the big screen of the IPad at first but then enjoyed them talking to her. She kept making faces at herself and waving at her grandparents. She then played with Playdoh with her daddy while we Skyped. They got to see her constant energy and smiles!

We then went down to breakfast at the buffet at the hotel. I am thankful to say that our little girl eats anything we put in front of her. We can only give her soft foods, but she really puts them down. She loves watermelon and yogurt! (Unlike her mommy) All of the waitresses kept talking to her when they went by and she just kept on eating and smiling. It was our first time to eat out as a family and she made us proud.

We then had to load up in the dreaded van to go get her TB test. I thought she would freak out about the van after yesterday, but she did really well. No tears at all! She snuggled on my lap and kept smiling at me and her daddy. We even had to wait in the van for lonnnnnggggg time while our guide, Tom, went into the clinic to fight the beauracracy of Chinese medicine. This happened to be the only clinic in Beijing that the American Consulate will accept a TB test from. Their TB tests had just changed a few months ago and the children no longer got an injection, but had to get their blood drawn. Once we finally got in there it was not a pleasant time for Cherry Blossom, The Rock or I. Imagine three nurses grabbing your arm and holding it down while they draw blood. She was crying, I was crying because I knew she couldn't understand and Tom was trying to calm her down by speaking to her. Poor Rock, he had to hold her during the entire thing. After it was over she reached for me (melt my heart) and I just held onto her until she calmed down. After a piece of candy and a lollipop she was all smiles again. She even waved at the nurses after we left.

We then got to experience Wal-mart in China. I am not a fan of Walmart in the U.S. let alone this tiny building where I could not find a stroller for Cherry Blossom. We did leave with a few things and only spent $11, which was amazingly cheap for what we bought. We still do not have a stroller but are going to try the carrier tonight when we go check out the Silk Market.

Cherry Blossom needs to get up from her nap now so I am going to go play with her. She is now giving me kisses on the lips when I get close to her, letting us hug and cuddle her, and repeating some words we say. She is still not talking much, but that is ok! When she gets home and gets around all of our nieces and friend's kids, she will be talking in no time.

Our IPad froze up today......scary!!! So, we just figured out what to do and we have no new pictures right now. I promise to take some at the Silk Market tonight and put them on there tomorrow!

  1. Kisses are the best! What a great way of showing she's accepting you.
